I had good friends in my final years at school, but we had to move. I lost contact with them because of the distance. I was lonely and looking for a social life. I met the wrong people, and they influenced me badly. So I went to raves and began to use drugs: marijuana, amphetamines, LSD, ecstasy, crack, cocaine and alcohol. That life led me to crime, mainly theft.
I was out late from Wednesday to Sunday for seven years. At this point, I hated my life and I had become an angry person. I wanted to get out of this life, but I couldn’t.
I heard about Jesus and tried my mum’s church. It was too quiet for me, and I gave up. One time, I was invited to go to Beulah Church. The service was very alive, and that was what I was looking for.
After the preacher’s message, I decided to give my life to Jesus the following day. I asked for forgiveness. Since then, my life has completely changed. My foul language had completely gone, and so had the craving for drinking, smoking and drugs. I had this sense of joy coming in, a sense of righteousness in me. Because of that, I was confused. What was going on with me? Jesus is real! The old me died! From that day, I went to every Sunday service, and it was better than any club or rave I had ever been to. Drugs no longer excited me — Jesus did! When I was low or in doubt, I needed to praise Him. Only Jesus has the power to set you free. I believe Jesus worked through my brokenness. It doesn’t matter how big or ugly your sins are. If you have the desire to change, Jesus will do the rest.
