Chains Fell When I Surrendered

My name is Emmanuel Imoleayo Sotomide. As a child, I loved my dad so much, because he was both my dad and my mum. He separated from my mum when I was two and a half years old, so I didn’t have the luxury of my mum growing up. Instead, I was raised by my eldest brother and sister, with my dad raising all five of us children alone.

My dad later left our home country for Europe, and my immediate elder brother and I had to go and live with our extended family. These decisions put a lot of strain on my personal development and left me with a lot of internalised pain and unexpressed emotion. I also struggled in school, until one day someone mocked me academically by comparing me to someone else. It was so painful, but I raised a prayer there and then in my heart and made a vow, and God truly helped me. That same year, I did very well in school.

I have had many situations like that, but there is one scripture that usually comes to mind:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17)

I have many more testimonies to share, but I’ll leave you with this. I hope you’re blessed.
